Studs Not On Top (SNOT) Technique Reviews:
For this post I chose several SNOT methods that I remember using as a child to model and review. I have to say it was a lot of fun to see bricks with my name on them rather than the traditional logo.
1) Plates Between Studs (Pony Ear)

This SNOT technique is very useful because it can be done with almost any plate-style pieces. It can also be done in combination with a plate piece and any other piece with more than two rows of studs. The only drawback is that it is not the sturdiest way to create a 90 degree stud change.
2. Technic Bricks

This technique is similar to the last one in that it can change the studs by 90 degrees. Although, this example has a lot more strength and stability depending on how it is used. For larger and heavier structures this SNOT technique can prove to be very useful.
3. Inverted Donut and Plate

I've noticed that this technique works best when the studs are hollow on the plate piece, which gives some flexibility when connecting the two pieces. It also seems to work better when the plate piece is from another brand other than Legos, so that there is a little more give between the studs when combining the two. This tactic allows a 180 inverted option, but also angles the two pieces 45 degrees from one another, which fan allow for some creative building.
