This course has really opened my eyes to what creativity is and has shown me many tactics for generating creative ideas. The tactics that I will likely implement in my work and life are the ideating techniques. These push me to come up with diverse and innovative solutions to problems. In particular I like the free-write style of listing as many ideas as possible. The theory behind this technique is that the more prolific the ideator the more "good" ideas will be generated.
I also enjoyed learning about the "wrong theory". This is an ideating tactic that encourages really bad design, which in retrospect allows for empathy to creating a good design. It also helps to understand the design parameters better. In my work, I often redesign old museum exhibits at historic sites. Some of them were created over forty years ago, and from today's standpoint, they are bad design. So sometimes the "wrong theory" is already right in front of me and I just have to improve the bad design.
From this point on, I will continue to explore creative strategies in problem solving and design. I will continue to make and not allow myself to become stuck. I also would like to keep blogging about the creative things that I do, so that possibly my journey can help other creators.
